Justin Beiber - Boyfriend


Locations

The main location used in this music video is rooftop. Its outside in the sun thefore the brightness of this location gives off a very positive and happy emotional atmosphere,This is futher enhanced by the main singer Justin and the background performers. The rooftop could also symbol freedom as in a location high up where everyone can see him and there's allot of space to run around.

This location exotic and new for a teen music video, this gives out the impression that this is a new type if music genre which will attract Teen audience members

Clothes

The clothing on both Justin and the other performers in the music video are very colorful and Happy, which makes energetic Happy feel to the music video. Clothing can be important as it relates to the viewer, who are mainly made up of teenagers which would ware the same type of clothing everyday.

Props

There are a variety of props used in this music video such as:

Cars which portrays the characters as cool and relates to teens wanting to take driving lessons however the cars are expensive which could also make the viewer think that they would like to be in his shoes and also teens would want to be like him and are inspired. also the car could represent freedom as he's free to drive where-ever he wants and the car has no hood which again suggests that he's free as there's no hood over him and you can see the sunlight touching him and he can feel the wind


Guitar is used by Justin in the music video. The use of this guitar portrays Justin as a talented who can sing and play. again making him inspirational


Cinematography

The video starts with a abstract montage of Justin with a girl. The lighting used in this sequence could be Justin's thoughts which relates to the song title of 'Boyfriend' as the song is most likely about this girl which relates to all teen girls.


On the rooftop there are many shots of the performers having a good time dancing which gives an energetic live atmoshphere which is used throughout the music video



Narrative
It's clear that Justin wants this girl to be his girlfriend. The montage scenes at the start represents emotional feelings for the girl. As the video comes to an end you can see them getting close The audience can then see at the end which they became lovers and had a relationship hence the song name 'boyfriend'
 

Effects

There is a slow motion at the beginning of the video of e.g the start with water dripping and of cars doing stunts showing off the cars and also showing a cool entrance for the main characters.

Continuity/Montage

The editing used in this music video is montage editing and shows the story of Justin and this Girl he loves relating to teenage love attracting a large amount of viewers as its easy to relate
